Without human attention, these hounds become bored, destructive and tend to escape or develop bad habits. Grooming these dogs can become a challenge for a novice owner, but experienced owners report that smooth and medium-haired double coat is easy to groom, if grooming is regular. This breed is an average shedder, but in the spring, it changes the dense winter coat for a lighter coat.
